THE INNOVATIVE

What have you learnt this semester (in theories) that has changed your perspective?

I think I had gain a lot of knowledge about architectural theories that influenced my design thinking throughout the Theories of Architecture Design class.

“ DESIGN THINKING IS A HUMAN CENTRED APPROACH TO INNOVATION THAT DRAWS ON THE DESIGNER’S TOOL KIT TO INTEGRATE THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE AND THE POSSIBILITIES OF TECHNOLOGY.”

This is because every week we had to write a blog about the topic discussed right after the class. There are ten different topics had been discussed in class throughout the whole semester. To write the blog can be counted as a hard work for me. As well as being to the point and also concise an Architecture’s blog should from start to finish reflect that I have carried out detailed research. After all carrying out detailed research is often required for me to answer the questions or the issues brought up for discussion or indeed evaluation by the title itself, or my interpretation of that title. Well from these lectures, I have learnt to express my personal understanding and ideas of the topics.

Besides that, I am glad to have the opportunity to attend PAM Talk and learn the knowledge (creative thinking) from the speakers. The speaker is freely to share his knowledge and do not withhold any important information. If anyone has a question, he will give a respectful answer and I think it is very useful to develop my design thinking. As an architecture student, I think we have to explore our design thinking by receiving more information or knowledge from the professionals. Sometimes, the 'Technology, Entertainment and Design Talks' (TED Talks) video showed in the class also inspired me a lot.

In addition, it was a challenge but somehow was a great experience for me to write a blog after watching the movie (including watch movie with all the coursemates and lecturer). I have learnt to analyze and interpret the cast design of every character in the movie and have more idea about how architecture relates with the background and setting of the movie. Now, I have a clear idea on how to analyze about the personalities of the movie’s characters after watching the movie. I think it is important for the architecture student to study more about human’s personalities and emotions when doing the design. With this we can design a space based on a person's personalities and create a unique and comfortable environment based on his / her characteristic.

For me, this subject is the most interesting subject that I have taken throughout the whole semester.
