Be A Voyager

"Architecture and travel, they go together like peanut butter and jelly, cookies and milk"

# Slowing Down is Important

I am naturally a slow person, I don’t work well in fast paced environments especially now as an architecture student. Those assignments that usually should take hours to finish but it would take me a day to complete it well probably because I am easily distracted or extremely indecisive. I think I will be so much faster if I don’t think too much. I always believe that slowing down myself and taking actions consciously can improve my focus. I love to travel especially budget travel. I love the excitement of it all–feeling like an explorer to discover a new land, a new language and all the little challenges that go along with it. When I travel, I am more likely to walk or take public transport to immerse myself into the local life as much as possible. It would definitely take longer time to reach the destination but along the way I will have higher chances to talk to the local.

Its important slow down while doing assignments. Architecture is not merely about submission deadline or designing fancy thing. Architecture itself is beautiful slow down and feel it. No matter I fast or how slow I am, I believe I will get to my destination as long as I move.

“There is more to life than increasing its speed.”
Mahatma Gandhi

Take one step at a time always applies when there are too many assignments at due. I usually carry along a small planner so that I can write down my plan for the coming week. I personally think that this is a brilliant practice as I am a very blur person and it helps me to make my next step clearer. I will normally estimate the time required for each assignment and plan it nicely so that I will just have to follow it and finish it all one by one. At the end of the day, the feeling of accomplishing is the most rewarding of all.

# Nothing Meaningful is Easy

It had been a challenging year around. Coping with many demands of family, friends and study. I am amazed that I have come this far also learned a lot along the way. I took form six before I study architecture. I used to think form six is the hardest tertiary level ever but now architecture blown my mind. It is not about how much effort you pay but how committed you are. This is my forth semester and it was so heartbreaking to see some of my friends quit architecture. It's always easy to give up, harder to live. I often get tired but it does not stop me from continuing my study. To whoever reading this remember that nothing that’s worthwhile is ever easy so don’t give up!

Semester 4 is not like walking up mountains gradually. It consisted of many thinking. Giving up or continuing have the same distance, so no matter how tired I am, when I am in the middle of the trek about to give up, moving forward is my only logical choice. As I grow, I realize I have to move forward regardless of the speed. Taking an U-turn is impossible in. Even I am moving slow, I am still way closer to the destination than standing still. 2 more semester till I throw my graduation cap!
